Dr. Vahid Serpooshan is a founding member of metrabiomedical, bringing with him an extensive, multidisciplinary background in materials science, biomaterials, and tissue engineering. He completed his doctoral degree at McGill University, where his thesis focused on the design and optimization of scaffolding biomaterials.

Following his PhD, Dr. Serpooshan spent seven pivotal years at the Stanford University School of Medicine as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Pediatric Cardiology and an Instructor at the Stanford Medical and Biomedical Institute. During this tenure, his research culminated in the development of a next-generation engineered cardiac patch designed to repair damaged heart tissue following myocardial infarction. This device, successfully tested in rigorous preclinical models, represents a significant breakthrough in translating advanced bioengineering to clinical reality.

Pioneering 3D Bioprinting

Dr. Serpooshan is a recognized leader in enabling technologies for human-machine hybrid cardiac tissue. His work actively utilizes advanced 3D bioprinting techniques to assemble complex arrays of interfaces between synthetic and biological materials, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in medical device design.

Currently, Dr. Serpooshan serves as an Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Pediatrics at the Georgia Institute of Technology and Emory University School of Medicine. His multidisciplinary team conducts cutting-edge research in 3D bioprinting-based tissue engineering and complex disease modeling, providing metrabiomedical with direct access to state-of-the-art scientific advancements. He also maintains an extensive network of industry professionals with deep expertise in medical device development, clinical strategy, and translational innovation.
